So I have a dilemma, I have a plot at a community garden that is doing fairy well. Yay! Stuff is growing, but we are pretty sure a lot of it is weeds. Grrrrrr. Actually weeds are not that big of a deal to me because I find it kinda fun to pull out, however my dilemma is that I am not entirely sure what is a weed and what is a little ol’ seedling!
Help!
Look at all that green! To the far right are Sugar Snap Peas, which I think are OK and free of weeds. This is what a seedling should look like and mine look kinda like that.
We are definitely going to have to add stakes soon.
The seedlings in the middle that look like four leaf clovers are supposed to be Lacinato kale. According to this website, below is what they are supposed to look like phew!
Our Kale definitely seems like it is growing, but it seems to be combining with the Swiss Chard that we planted right next to it. Hmmmm. Are we supposed to take out the chard that is in the kale spot????? Or is what we think is invading swiss chard not swiss chard at all. My brain is exploding! Below is an upclose picture of what a swiss chard seedling looks like.
We also planted bell peppers, but those have not sprouted yet. So we are safe from using our brain in that little corner of our plot.

Looking through the first site, the witchgrass looks a lot like my swiss chard.
Well there will be a lot of experimenting this summer.
