This evening we had plans to see an Aussie Rules Football game. But first we enjoyed some sunshine!!!!
It was a gorgeous day and Matt, Michelle and I walked along the beach. Along the way, we stopped at a place called Raw Energy that I have had my eyes on the entire week.
They had awesome smoothies. Matt got a mango coconut one, Michelle got one with pumpkin seeds in it and I got a berry one. They were absolutely delicious.
Look how cute the store is! If you sit down to eat instead of giving you a number they give you are fruit or vegetable.
Ordering food at restaurants is much different in Australia than America. For one you don’t tip and there is no tax. What you see is what you get. Also unless it is a fancy restaurant many times you will order at the cashier and they will than bring the food to your table or pick it up yourself. It is also not uncommon to go to the bar and get yourself a jug of water for the table. I enjoyed this type of dining. It is nice to not have to wait around for a waitress to bring you a drink.
After our wonderful walk and smoothies it was time to get ready for the game. We drove to his friends house which is about 15 minutes from the stadium. We had several coronas which is quite the luxury in Australia because they are about $8 dollars a bottle at the pubs.
After about an hour we drove to the stadium called the Gabba Ground, which is where the Brisbane Cricket Team plays.
The two teams that played were the St. Kildas Saints and the Brisbane Lions. We had good seats courtesy of James! The game was super fun and surprisingly easy to follow. You just got to get the ball between either the wider or narrower posts. Obviously a goal in the narrow posts are worth more.
Michelle and I were cheering for the Brisbane Lions because they gave us these really cool banners.
Despite our constant cheering the St. Kilda Saints won.
O well it was still a fun time.
Off to Airlie Beach bright and early!
