The other day while I was grocery shopping I overheard someone saying ‘I wish I knew how to cut a pineapple’. Then I looked at the price of a pint of pre-cut pineapple… $5.99!!!! Not cheap! If you need a boatload of cut pineapple for a party or something, then it may be worth it. However if you just want some pineapple for yourself to snack on then it is imperative to cut your own pineapple.

Pineapples are one of my most favorite fruit. Not only is the actual fruit delicious, but think of the wonderful beverages that it can make…. Pina colada! The only sad thing is that they are not grown locally . I have cut many pineapples in my day and therefore have ‘mastered’ the art of cutting a pineapple which I want to share with you’all.
How to cut a pineapple
Cut both ends of the pineapple with a good knife
Then cut downwards towards the cutting board. This takes time to get it right as you don’t want to waste the actual fruit, but you also do not want to leave a lot of the skin on.
Once the pineapple is naked, cut in halves along the core.
Then cut into into small pieces

Ta – dah! A whole quart of cut up pineapple for only $3.99
If anyone can help me to master the art of cutting a butternut squash please share! I never fail to walk away with cut up fingers. This is even after I microwave it for 5 minutes. Grrrrr
